miracles and commonsense

Even today there are still many people who believe in miracles. Obviously even in our scientific and rational civilisation the belief in miracles will never be eradicated.

It seems to be part of the Human nature that we love to hear about the marvelous and wondrous.

For David Hume, the great scottish philosopher, a miracle is:

"a transgression of a law of nature by a particular volition of the Deity, or by the interposition of some invisible agent".
